Mark Stephen Frey, 70, Jamestown, passed away on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023 at Sanford Hospital Fargo, ND surrounded by family. Mark was born September 17, 1952 in Jamestown, ND to Norman and Dolores Frey. He met Cathy Headland while attending NDSU and was married on August 18th, 1973. He then graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanized Agriculture in 1974. Mark and Cathy built a house on the farmstead next to Norman and Dolores, which he then milked dairy cows and farmed the land until 1999. In 2000, he began working as a mechanic at Aviko, now Cavendish Farms where he worked and retired in 2020.
Mark loved music and encouraged everyone around him to also explore the enjoyment that music can bring. He led by example as through his life he remained as an active member of the Jamestown Drum and Bugle Corps. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather, having loved spending time with his family at every opportunity he had. Mark was a self-proclaimed “foodie”, he was one who loved to cook and was always interested in trying new foods.
Mark is survived by his mother, Dolores Frey; brother Kevin (Laurie) Frey; sister, Annette Johnson; wife, Cathy Frey; sons Brett (Anita) Frey, Kit (Lisa) Frey and Jesse (Kristen) Frey; daughter, Kacey (Ryan) Schlafman; 9 grandchildren, Devony (Shawn) Wegenast, Jacob, Halee, Colton, Gavin, Riley, Landyn, Mason and Ella; 3 great grandchildren Willow, Wesley, and Walker. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman.
Prayer Service – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Memorial Service – 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Stephanie Gossett officiating.
