Marlene H. Brandenburg

September 1, 1934 — August 8, 2017

Marlene H. (Anderson) Brandenburg received her crown of eternal life when she was called home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 8, 2017.

Marlene Helene Anderson was born to Theodore C. and Ellen (Severtson) Anderson September 1, 1934 in Fort Ransom, ND. Her first breath of fresh air was to smell the homemade bread that Ellen had to get in the oven before admitting that Marlene was indeed making her entrance into the world. Marlene claimed that this is why she loved fresh baked bread.

She was baptized into the Christian faith at St. Petri Lutheran Church, rural Nome, ND on October 21, 1934 and confirmed her faith on June 19, 1949 at Zoar Lutheran Church, LaMoure, ND.

Marlene married Don Brandenburg on Feb. 2, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND.

Marlene served the community by volunteering as an EMT and First Responder for Edgeley’s Ambulance. She worked as the Registered Nurse for many years at Manor St. Joseph and was an active member at Zion Lutheran Church.

Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ was a true love of both Don and Marlene, who made several missionary trips to Latvia, Russia, Germany, Czechoslovakia, within the 48 continental United States and Mexico. Marlene served as North Dakota District Lutheran Women’s Missionary League President.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Arlene; brothers, Don and Rocky; and grandson, Michael Jr.
