Marlin ""Mike"" Tripp, 77, Pettibone, North Dakota died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown, North Dakota.
Marlin Tripp was born May 1, 1931 in Lake Williams, North Dakota to Zell and Stella (Johnson) Tripp. Marlin was raised by Robert Rhode his step-father after Zell passed away early in Marlin's life. He farmed around the Pettibone area before owning and operating Pettibone Grocery Store - Tripps U-Save. Marlin also owned and operated the Pettibone School Bus system for forty-five years. He also owned and operated Marlin Tripp Truck Lines. On July 12, 1951 Marlin married Esther Walz in Petersville Church north of Pettibone. He enjoyed woodworking, driving bus, his tractor and pickup. Marlin loved spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them how to drive.
Marlin is survived by his wife, Esther, Jamestown; four sons, Keith, Kirt, Randy (LeAnn) and Steve (Valerie), all of Pettibone; ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley (Betty), Mesa, AZ and Dale, CA; one sister, Erlis Otto, Fargo, ND; one sister-in-law, Juanita Rohde, Albuquerque, NM and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one great-grandson, Brett, four brothers, Vernon, Sherwin, Cyrus, Tracy, one sister, Doris and two infant sisters, June and Dorothy.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pettibone, ND with Rev. Howard Lyons, officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, April 28 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Tuesday, April 28 at Eddy Funeral Home
Burial: Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Pettibone, ND
