Martha M. (Schroeder) Haas, 95, passed away on November 20, 2010 at Ebenezzer Ridges Nursing Home in Burnsville, Minnesota due to a fall followed by a difficult surgery.
Martha was born on June 20, 1915 to John and Katherine Schroeder. The Schroeder family homesteaded south of Cleveland and later on the family moved to a farm west of Jamestown where they raised their family of seven children.
Martha married Ernest E. Haas on January 11, 1937 in Jamestown and they made their home in Fargo, North Dakota. In March of 1943, Martha and Ernest moved to Cleveland where they raised their family and farmed until retiring in 1980. In 2005, Martha moved to Burnsville, Minnesota to be near her daughter Betty.
Martha was a member of the Cleveland Seventh-Day Adventist Church and shared her love for the Lord by serving in various roles of the church. She was the church organist for many years and also worked as a Nursing Assistant at the Anne Carlsen School in Jamestown while at the same time being a wonderful homemaker and mother.
Martha is survived by two daughters, Betty (Orville) Wetzel, of Burnsville, MN; Bonnie (Brad) Meyer of Prescott, AZ; seven grandchildren, Dawn Haas, Lori Walstrom, Shawn (Steven) Munson, Dr. Thomas Haas, Angela (Dirk) Wenzel, Jeff (Gina) Lehmann, Cindy (Ken) Carter; eight great grandchildren, Brittney (Chad) Procter, Bethany Munson, Ryan and Michael Walstrom, Seth Haas, Rita Lehman, Grace Carter, Jackson Carter, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents John and Katherine, husband, Ernest, son Ernest David, daughter-in-law, Lona Haas; brothers, Lawrence Schroeder, Solomon Schroeder, John Schroeder, her twin, Benjamin Schroeder; sisters, Rose Hirsch, Katherine Harr and Lydia Remboldt.
As mother, grandmother and aunt, we have been fortunate to have been loved by her and we will dearly miss her.
