Martha Johnson

Martha Johnson, 90, New Hope, MN, formerly of the Pingree and Jamestown, ND area died Saturday, January 24, 2004 at the MN Masonic Home-North Ridge, New Hope. Martha was born November 7, 1913 at Pingree the daughter of Adolph and Mary (Piercy) Beaver. She grew up in Pingree and attended school there graduating from Pingree High School. She taught school in several one room schoolhouses in the Pingree area. Martha married Herman Johnson on May 25, 1940 in Fergus Falls, MN. They lived in Jamestown until 1942 when they moved to Minneapolis, MN. She has lived in the Minneapolis area ever since.

She loved to sing and enjoyed reading. Martha volunteered many hours at the school library when her children were growing up.

Martha is survived by three children, Carol (James) Parker, Pensacola, FL; Mary (Dennis) Gartner, Cumberland, MD and Roger (Kim) Johnson, Plymouth, MN, six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Anun Beaver.

Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 31, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bryce Tahran officiating.

Visitation: One hour before service on Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, North Dakota.
