Martha Klingenberg

March 30, 1929 — April 30, 2023

Martha Klingenberg, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away on April 29, 2023 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.  She was born on March 30, 1929 in Clarksville, Tennessee.  She was the only child of Carl and Earline Vaden.

She met Johnny Klingenberg, the love of her life, when he was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky after World War II. They were married on September 2, 1947 and moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota following their wedding.  They moved to Jamestown in 1955, where Johnny established North Central Consultants, an engineering and architectural firm.  They had five children, Janet, Lynne, Susan, Sandra and Brian.

Martha loved gardening and was especially proud of her rose bushes.  She enjoyed sharing her roses with friends and family.  Her yard was always filled with beautiful flowers.  She was also an avid bridge player and played in several bridge clubs.  Martha was an excellent cook who brought her southern cooking to her Norwegian family in North Dakota.  It was enjoyed by many at family gatherings.  Martha loved all holidays and made sure the house was decorated to match each one.

Martha was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the alter guild, and served as the wedding coordinator at one time.  She was a 55-year member of PEO, Chapters AS and K, serving as the president of Chapter AS at one time.  She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star where she had held the office of Worthy Matron.

She is survived by her children, Janet Edwards, Honolulu, Hawaii; Lynne Tally, Jamestown; Susan Brown (Antonio Hodge) Denver, Colorado; and Sandra (Eli) Owens, Denver, Colorado; Brian Klingenberg, Jamestown; her grandchildren Bryna Tally, Noel Klingenberg; Kate (Serghei) Tally-Moroz, and Anna Marie (Richard) Martinez; her great-grandsons, Luka and Bennett Moroz, and Logan and Parker Martinez; and Tommye Jean Langford, her best friend for 90 years.

She was preceded in death by Johnny, her beloved husband of 63 years; her parents; her son-in-law John Edwards, and Madigan, the little dog who was her loving and loyal companion after Johnny’s death.

She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
