Martha Sund, 93, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Roseadele in Jamestown.
Martha Weixel was born September 25, 1916 in Streeter, North Dakota, the daughter of Ludwig and Emelia (Weisenberger) Weixel. She attended country grade school in Bloomingfield township. On January 21, 1938 Martha married Morris Sund in Cleveland, ND. They farmed south of Cleveland for many years. In the early 1950's they moved to Medina, ND where they also farmed. They moved to Jamestown in 1958. Martha worked for many years at City Laundry and Buffalo Motel. Morris died on March 9, 1993.
Martha was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, and in her younger years belonged to Homemakers.
Martha enjoyed crocheting, playing pinochle and she was a fantastic cook. She loved making quilts. Martha was known for being a very hospitable lady. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Martha is survived by three sons, Marvin (Judy) Sund, Wimbledon, ND, Leroy Sund, Kingman, AZ and Vernon (Joan) Sund, Cedar Falls, IA; one daughter, Adeline (Roger) Olson, McClusky, ND; eleven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Esther Remboldt, Edna Clark and Hulda Siegle, all of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Theodore, Raymond and Elmer; and four sisters, Ella Schnabel, Johanna Brych, Frieda Patzer and Gertrude Klose.
