Marvelle J. Sanford

Marvelle J. Sanford, 89, of Dickinson, ND, formerly Edgeley, ND, died Monday, August 8, 2011 at St. Luke's Home, Dickinson.

Marvelle J. Smith was born May 5, 1922, in Edgeley, ND, the daughter of Eugene D. and Haydle (Rasmussen) Smith. She lived on the farm in Edgeley. Marvelle moved to Minneapolis, MN as a young woman where she finished school, and then worked for Honeywell Corp. in Minneapolis for many years until her retirement. Marvelle had a love for animals and had many fond memories of farm life. Marvelle enjoyed gardening, yard work, and cooking. She loved being around her many nieces and nephews and was know as (Auntie Marv).

Marvelle is survived by 2 nephews, Shelby Jr., Deweyville, Utah, Steven (Tammy) Smith, Dickinson, ND; their 6 children, Alysia, Steve, Alyson (Jeremy), Brent, Alyssa and Kendahl; a niece, Jeanne D. Smith of Bottineau, ND; sister-in-law Dorothy Smith of Bottineau, ND; and great-great nieces, Kenadee and Alyvia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Shelby and Gene Smith; and a sister-in-law, Lois Smith.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the funeral chapel.

Interment: Mt. Hope Cemetery, Edgeley.
