Marvin L Wanamaker

Marvin L. Wanamaker Jr, 87, of Jamestown, ND, went home to be with his wife, Gloria (who passed on June 22, 2023) of 66 years on September 3, 2024 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND, surrounded by his family.

Marvin was born July 18, 1937, the son of Marvin Sr and Beverly (Dodge) Wanamaker.  He was united in marriage to Gloria Siebert on June 2, 1957 in Edmunds by Rev. N.E. McCoy.  They lived in Long Beach, CA while Marvin was in the Navy.  He was a storekeeper during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged.  In 1958, they moved back to the family farm east of Edmunds where they farmed together for over 30 years. Marvin was on the Edmunds Township board and served as supervisor.  He was also a member of Pingree Congregational Church the Elks and VFW.  Marvin and Gloria volunteered in Medora for a few summers and they both loved to spend their winters in Texas. He enjoyed playing Cribbage and Wanamaker Wednesdays at the Pingree Cafe, where he could always find someone to pick on. Marvin loved spending time with his family and all his grand kids and great grandchildren, but he especially enjoyed his adventures with his grandson, Ethan.

Marvin is survived by children Mel O' Dee (David) Horejsi and Rodney Wanamaker; grandchildren, Christi (Eric) Ova, Dustin (Amber) Horejsi, Jessica Horejsi (Ryan Romans), Taylor Wanamaker, and Ethan Wanamaker; 8 great grandchildren; one nephew and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his aunts and uncles.

Memorial Service – 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2024 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Burial – Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.  A Celebration of Life will follow at the Elk’s, Jamestown.
