Mary J. Quanrud, 85, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, October 18, 2010 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, North Dakota.
Mary Jane Berner was born July 24, 1925 in Jamestown, North Dakota, the daughter of Glenn and Alice (Grettenberg) Berner. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1943, a member of the \""Miracle Class\"", so called because all of those who served in World War II returned home.
Mary and John Quanrud were married June 22, 1957 in Jamestown. They had two children, Glen and Myra. They lived in Jamestown and at Spiritwood Lake, eventually building a retirement home there after many years of summer commuting.
Mary worked for Jamestown National Bank (eventually First Bank) for 35 years, first as a teller, eventually as a loan officer and personal banker, and finally as an assistant vice-president. After official retirement, she worked as a library aide for Jamestown Public Schools. She was a member of Zonta and a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and served in many capacities, including Sunday School Teacher and council and committee member.
Mary's favorite activities were rock hunting, reading, traipsing around the countryside visiting little known attractions, and especially spending time at the lake with her family and friends.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Myra (Andrew) Hennessey, Jamestown, ND and three grandchildren, Glenn, Shauna and Thea; one sister, Alice Swanson, Jamestown, ND; nieces, Julie (David) Arneson, Mary (Arnie) Kuhn, both of Jamestown, ND, Deb (Larry) Lee, Dillard, OR; nephews, Mike (Lee) Barron, Skanee, MI and Tim (Sue) Swanson, Sauk Centre, MN, as well as her childhood best friend \""Tag\"" Kelly, St. Petersburg, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, son, Glen and sister, Jewel.
