Maureen H. Garrett, 69, Woodworth, North Dakota died Sunday, October 20, 2002 at her home near Woodworth, North Dakota.

Maureen Loose was born May 8, 1933 to Gustav and Helena (Muenchow) Loose on their farm home south of Woodworth.

Maureen loved country life also and became a rural school teacher. She taught in several one room school houses in Stutsman County and was dedicated to her pupils. Later she was employed as a secretary-bookkeeper at Melland's Appliance and at the North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown. On August 9, 1959, Maureen was married to Donald E. Eichele, they made their home in Jamestown, N.D. They became the proud parents of three children. Donald died January 3, 1965. Maureen continued living in their home caring for her three small children and doing bookkeeping and typing in her home.

Maureen married Eugene Garrett on December 28, 1966, in Jamestown, N.D. They moved to Lowery Township to make their home.

Maureen was interested in many things. She enjoyed sewing for children, refinishing antique furniture, and growing plants and flowers. She taught Sunday School for many years. She played the piano for her own enjoyment, crochets, quilting, and loved to read. She ran Country Quilting N' Crafts out of her home. She took pride in the fact that families in North Dakota had a part of her in their homes.

Maureen is survived by her husband, Eugene Garrett, of Woodworth, of N.D.; seven children, Steve Eichele, Carrington, N.D.; Jodi (Tom) Eissinger, of Fargo, N.D.; James Eichele, of Superior, WI; Julie (Mike) Kunz, of Clear Lake, MN; Brenda (Wes) Schroeder, Cold Spring, MN; Lee Garrett, Woodworth, N.D.; Jayne (Keith) Winkowitch, of Coeur d' Alene, ID; nine grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence (Ardelle) Loose, Woodworth, N.D.; two sisters, Lois Kapfer, Jamestown, N.D.; and Myrna (John) Kourajian, of St. Cloud, MN.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. - Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Woodworth, N.D., with Rev. Mark Schlamann officiating.

Prayer Service: 7:00 P.M. - Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at Eddy Funeral Chapel - Jamestown, N.D., with Pastor Robert Leiste officiating.

Visitation: Tuesday, October 22, 2002 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Eddy Funeral Home - Jamestown, N.D.

Burial: Gem Cemetery - Woodworth, N.D.

Memorials: Redeemer Lutheran Church or Gem Cemetery, Woodworth, N.D.
