Mavis Lorig

Mavis (Dockter) Lorig went home to the Lord on the night of August 8, 2022 at the age of 86.  Mavis was born as a twin sister with her brother Maynerd in Medina, ND on October 27th, 1935 where she grew up working on the farm with her 10 siblings Elaine, Arnold, Gerhard, Daniel, Phyllis, Donna, Marcus, Maynerd, Sandra, and Raymond. She completed school through 8th grade and later moved to Jamestown, ND where she married Marvin Lorig, raised five children, and worked jobs in the service industry.

Mavis spent her golden years antique shopping, gardening, drinking coffee, spending time in the sunshine, and spoiling her grandkids. She is remembered by many locals for the miles upon miles she walked in Jamestown.

She is preceded in death by her brother Arnie and her parents Gottlieb and Pauline Dockter. She leaves behind her four daughters and one son: Pam Lorig, Mary Newman (John), Tina Reimers (Jeff), Jon Lorig (Jane), and Heather Elhard (Chad). Mavis also leaves behind her twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren: Austin Newman (Jocelynn), Leah Newman (Aubree), Tiffany Newman (April), Alicia Wolla, Jake Lorig, Shawn Reimers (Grace), Jade Glasgow/Reimers, Rayann Reimers, Jasmine Glasgow/Reimers, Rishi Wason, Ian Elhard, and Max Elhard.

A visitation will be held at Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND from 4pm to 6pm on Sunday, August 14th. The celebration of life will also be held at Eddy Funeral Home at 10:30am on Monday, August 15th followed by a luncheon at the KC Hall prior to her burial in Medina Cemetery, Medina, ND.
