Maxine Schrader

Maxine Schrader, 90, Jamestown, ND, died Friday, September 25, 2009 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND.

Maxine Fai Crandell was born January 13, 1919 at Trinity Hospital in Jamestown, ND, the daughter of Harry F. and Mildred (McElroy) Crandell. She was raised in Adrian, ND and attended elementary school in Adrian. She attended Edgeley High School, graduating in 1936 and then attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND for 1 year. She worked for the Marion Bank in Marion, ND. On September 24, 1938, she married Milford H. "Buster" Schrader in Alice, ND. They lived in many places while Buster worked in construction including: Carson, ND; Adrian, ND; Dickey, ND; El Monte, CA; Corvallis, OR and Walla Walla, WA. In 1942, they moved to Adrian, ND where they farmed until retiring in 1997. Starting in the early 1970's, they spent 29 winters in Desert Hot Spring, CA.

Maxine and Buster traveled to many places including Alaska, Australia, Europe and Hawaii. They also enjoyed traveling with their motor home. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting afghans and especially her cat, Billy. Maxine was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Adrianna Homemakers Club.

Survivors include her husband; 6 children: Larry (Maria) Schrader, Jacksonville, AR; Murray (Edna) Schrader, Adrian, ND; Ken (Doris) Schrader, Branson, MO; Candace (Don) Podoll, Adrian, ND; Dwight (Anna) Schrader, Jamestown, ND; Julie Schrader, Sun Valley, ID; 10 grandchildren; 8 greatgrandchildren and a sister, Vivian (Ervin) Kuebler, Lakeside, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Ronald.
