Melvin Aljoe, 76, Ypsilanti, ND, died Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Medcenter One Hospital, Bismarck, ND.
Melvin James Aljoe was born December 25, 1929 on the family farm in Corwin Township, near Ypsilanti, ND, the son of John and Marie (Janz) Aljoe. He was raised on the family farm and attended the Corwin Township School. Melvin was baptized into the Lutheran Church on October 22, 1937 and confirmed on December 14, 1952. He worked on the family farm until he and his brother, LeRoy, bought their own farm, also in Corwin Township, near Ypsilanti, ND, where they have lived and raised grains and cattle until the present. Melvin also served in the United States Marines.
Melvin was a member of Montpelier Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council, other committees and served as head usher for many years. He was also member of the American Legion. Melvin enjoyed life on the farm, especially his cattle. He enjoyed ice fishing, watching baseball games, playing cards and visiting with family and friends and the months he used to spend with relatives in South Dakota.
Survivors include 3 brothers: LeRoy, Ypsilanti, ND; Darrell (Cristal) Roscoe, TX; Everrett (Vangie) Bismarck, ND; a sister, Dorothy (Dennis) Hendrickson, Montpelier, ND; 3 nieces, 5 nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Wesley, in infancy and Raymond in 1995.
Funeral - 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2006 at Montpelier Lutheran Church with Reverend Norm Winkelman officiating.
Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
Visitation - Noon to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Interment - Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
