Mervyn R. Ova

Mervyn R. Ova, 78, Jamestown, North Dakota died Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

Mervyn was born June 5, 1926 in Jamestown the son of Lloyd and Florence (Allen) Ova. He grew up in the Buchanan, ND area and attended school at the Hidden Township School and in Buchanan. Mr. Ova entered the US Army on March 20, 1945 at Ft. Snelling, MN, served his country during WW II in Germany and was discharged on October 10, 1946 in Ft. Mead, MD. He returned to North Dakota and on October 14, 1947 married Emily Job in Fessenden, ND. They farmed all their lives in the Buchanan area. Upon retirement in 1995 they moved to Jamestown.

Mervyn enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and his grandchildren.

He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

Mervyn is survived by his wife, Emily; his mother, Florence both of Jamestown; three sons, Mervyn ""Jack"" (Deb) and Cal, both of Jamestown and Dean (Linda), Pingree; two daughters, Barbara (Richard) Nysted, Carrington, ND and Patty (Dwight) Legge of Sanborn, ND; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Darrel Ova, Gackle, ND and Gerald (Darlene) Ova, Buchanan and one sister, Joyce (Richard) Guthmiller of Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd, and one brother, Stanley.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Monday, August 2, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Deaconess Candyce Wick officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 9:00 PM, Sunday, August 1, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service: 7:30 PM, Sunday, August 1, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
