Mike Gallagher

Michael Gallagher, 64, Jamestown, ND, died Saturday, December 15, 2007, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Michael William Gallagher was born February 21, 1943, at Trinity Hospital, Jamestown, ND, the son of Frank and Eleanor (Brandt) Gallagher. He attended Saint John's Academy at Jamestown, where he excelled at sports including football, basketball, and track, graduating in 1961. Following his graduation he worked for his father and uncle in the family business, Jamestown Plumbing and Heating. Mike married Marlys Fried at the Basilica of Saint James on July 14, 1962. They made Jamestown their home. Mike became a Master Plumber and was instrumental in building and managing Jamestown Plg Housing. He retired in 2000.
Survivors include his wife; two sons: Mitch (Felicia), Fort Wayne, Indiana and Ron (Brenda), Indianapolis, Indiana; two daughters: Yvette (John) Yatskis, and Lindsey (Dan) Cramer, both Jamestown, ND; seven grandchildren: Gretchen, Andrew, Tygh, Dasha, Julia, Anabelle, and Michael; two brothers, David (Jeri), Cave Creek, AZ, and Ken (Saichon), East Lansing, Michigan; and two sisters, Patricia (Paul) Rodriguez, Westminster, California, and Mary (James) Breidenbach, Grand Forks, ND, and many nieces and nephews. Michael's parents and a sister, Laura, preceded him in death.
Michael was a member of The Basilica of St. James, the Knights of Columbus Council 1883, and the Elks, all of Jamestown. He was on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for the Advancement of Christian Education (FACE) and the Board of Trustees for the Pension Plan for Priests of the Diocese of Fargo. In 1993 he received the Distinguished Graduate Award from the Department of Elementary Schools of the National Catholic Education Association. He and Marlys served as sponsors for many engaged couples preparing for marriage. The most important thing in Mike's life was his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, being at the lake, creating metal art, restoring vintage cars, architectural design, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
Visitation - 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND, and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Interment - Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
