Mildred Leppert

d. February 9, 2021

Mildred Blanche was born on Monday, March 4, 1935 at Columbus, Ohio to H.C. and Elizabeth Bellomy.  She was raised by her Belgium immigrant grandparents Leopold “Poline” and Aurora Debeur Conrad Antoine in Columbus, OH where Milly grew into womanhood. She married Stanley Cox Sr. and to this union were born Stanley, Jr. and Elizabeth Ann Cox.  She later moved to Florida with her children to be near her mom and step-dad, Joseph Sidwell.  She was employed at a hospital there.  She later moved to Alexandria, Va. doing private duty elder care.  While working in Virginia she met Dennis Leppert at a dance at Ft Belvoir Va. where he was serving in the military.  They were married June 1, 1968 at Alexandria Va. They began their life together on the Family Farm near Edgeley, ND.

In 1971 they purchased the Ernst Farm where their home has been ever since.  The first six years of marriage she was employed at Memorial Hospital in Ellendale, ND where she cared for many area community members; many of whom, especially

have shared a, “Milly cared for me story”.  After taking time off to raise her family she began working at the Edgeley Livestock as cook and custodian for several years.  She later worked as a cook at the Nodak Cafe and Fireside Restaurants in Ellendale, ND until her retirement in 2011.

Mildred is a child of God and was active in her church, Our Redeemer’s Lutheran in Edgeley. She was also a 4-H leader and a member of the Dickey Central P.T.O.  Milly’s biggest pride and pleasure was her family, she especially enjoyed keeping track of the grandchildren’s activities (and homework).  She also enjoyed occasional quick trips to various destinations with Dennis and family, watching TV, staying connected via Facebook, and word search puzzles. She loved sharing the stories of her early life in big cities where she lived and worked before coming to the prairie. She took great pride in the jobs she held and many people will remember her spunky nature.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Dennis, whom she loved dearly.  Three sons, Stanley (Jan) Cox Jamestown ND, Andrew (Kathleen) Leppert of Carrington ND and Sheldon (Molly) Leppert of Edgeley ND. Two daughters, Elizabeth Clemens (Jeff Dudley) Payson, UT and Beverly (Sam Brummund) Myer of Frederick, SD.  Grandchildren: Preston (Carrie) Cox, Logan (RaeAnne) Cox, Kaleb (Kasi) Cox, Lane (Chelsea Schossow) Myer, Shekota (Brandon) Lehmann, Meza Myer, Bo (Jodi) Myer, Natessa Gillette, & Jarod (Robin) Myer, Emma Leppert, Gavin Leppert and Elly Leppert.  Great Grandchildren: Everly, Adeline, Zander and Barrett Cox, Conner Lehmann, Delaney Myer, & baby-to be Leighton Cox.
