Mildred D. Nelson, 83, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, March 20, 2005 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown.
Mildred Dorothy Etter was born April 13, 1921 in Valley City, ND the daughter of Frederick and Anna (Carrol) Etter. She attended school in Wimbledon and graduated from St. Catherines in Valley City. After graduation she went to Chicago and worked in the ammunitions factory. She returned to Wimbledon where she and Raymond W. (Swede) Nelson were married on December 27, 1943. They lived in Wimbledon until 1968 when they moved to West Fargo where Mildred worked at the Highway Host for 24 years, retiring in 1991 when they moved to Jamestown.
Mildred enjoyed playing cards, cooking, baking, crocheting, yardwork, traveling with Ray and spending time with family and friends.
Mildred is survived by her husband, Ray of Jamestown, four daughters, Mary Lou (Greg) Hazard, Cooperstown, ND; Patricia (Byron) Volk, Fargo, ND; Charlene (Ronald) Perleberg, Jamestown and Connie (Kenneth) DeLair, Buchanan, ND, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a brother, Willis (Donna) Etter of Hyshem, MT and a sister, Mary Ann Backer of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Robert Ray Nelson.
Her sudden death is a tragedy to all who knew her and thus loved her. To say the least, she will be greatly missed by all and will forever by in our hearts, minds and prayers.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at the Basilica of St. James with Father Al Bitz officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, March 22, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Rosary at 6:30 PM followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel
Burial: St. Boniface Cemetery, Wimbledon, North Dakota.
