Milton Genzel, 83, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Monday, June 12, 2006 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown.
Mr. Genzel was born November 19, 1922 in the rural Wimbledon, North Dakota area, the son of Butlin W. and Gail (Wright) Genzel. He grew up on the family farm near Wimbledon and attended school in Gray Township and Wimbledon. He married Eileen L. Wolf on May 7, 1944 in Jamestown. They farmed fulltime until 1977 and permanently moved to Jamestown in 1978. He worked various other jobs over his lifetime, including road construction, building of the Jamestown Dam, gas truck driver for the ND Missile base construction, grave digger for Eddy Funeral Home, Daley Peterson Funeral Home and the Valley City funeral homes and a driver for Transport, Inc. He worked for Ottertail Power Company from 1967-77 and the ND State Hospital power plant from 1977-87, until his retirement. Eileen died on November 30, 1990. Milton entered Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center on June 1, 2006.
Milton served on the Gray Township and Gray school board for many years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Jamestown. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting with people and going to auction sales. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to him.
Milton is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Douglas) Murray of Wimbledon and Joan Blinsky of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Corey (Melissa) Murray, Coleen (Ryan) Murray Teigen, Tonya (Shane) Drenth, Justin Blinsky, all of Jamestown and six great-grandchildren, Drew and Kaden Murray, Chae Teigen, Marissa, Shania & Dalton Drenth.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and his son-in-law, Duane Blinsky.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 17, 2006 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Jamestown with Rev. John Syvertson officiating.
Visitation: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Friday, June 16, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Friday, June 16, 2006 at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
