Melissa ""Missy"" Morud, 46, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, October 1, 2007 at MedCenter One in Bismarck, ND, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Missy was born August 22, 1961 in Jamestown, the daughter of Leslie and Cecile (Nelson) Morud. She grew up and attended school in Jamestown, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1979. While attending high school she played basketball and softball. Missy graduated from Valley City State College (VCSC) with a Bachelors degree in Education. She was a member of the VCSC Softball team and played in four consecutive national tournaments. She was an honorary ""Viking Pilot"" and was inducted into the Valley City Hall of Fame for her softball achievements.

She started teaching at Border Central in Calvin, ND. Missy taught business for the past 21 years at Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal (PBK) school. She also coached basketball and golf.

Missy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Country Club, the Elks, the ""Morlees"" fantasy football league and past president of the Elkettes, all of Jamestown.

Missy is survived by her mother, Cecile, of Jamestown; one brother, Rollie (Cathy) Morud, Bemidji, MN; five sisters, Deborah (Chuck) Bartz, Courtenay, ND, Pamela (Terry) Hansen, Jamestown, Margo (Keith) Brisben, Sidney, MT, Monica Morud, West Fargo, ND and Robin (Kurt) Barkus, Jamestown; 14 nieces and nephews and three great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Les, and grandparents.

Funeral Service: 3:00 PM, Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Rich Fitzer officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
