Monica Sauer, 69, Bismarck, ND, formerly of Tappen, ND, died Tuesday, February 21, 2006, surrounded by family at her home in Bismarck.
Monica Marie Sauer was born July 26, 1936 at Dawson, ND, the daughter of Louis and Irene (Geringer) Sauer. She was raised on the family farm, north of Tappen, ND and attended the rural Weiser Township School. She attended St. Mary's High School in Bismarck, ND. After her high school graduation, she joined the United States Air Force, where she served for 3 years. Following her honorable discharge from the Air Force, she lived in Washington DC, where she worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. When her father died, she returned to Tappen, where she farmed with her brother, Oscar and sister, LaVerne. In December of 1999, she and LaVerne retired from farming and moved to Bismarck, ND.
Monica was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and American Legion Post 231 in Dawson. She enjoyed flower gardening, crossword puzzles and travel.
Survivors include 3 sisters: Eloise Sauer, Vancouver, WA; LaVerne Sauer, Bismarck, ND; Annette Sauer, Bismarck, ND; a niece, Michelle (Adam Bures), Minot, ND; and a nephew, Jeffrey (Anne) Sauer, Reno, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, Eugene, Louis Jr. Paul and Oscar and 3 sisters, Roween, Mary and Beverly.
Funeral - 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2006 at Corpus Christi Church, Bismarck, ND
Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Corpus Christi Church, Bismarck, ND
Visitation - Noon to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Corpus Christi Church, Bismarck, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Interment - Dawson Cemetery, Dawson, ND
