Myrl Doerr, 84, Jamestown, North Dakota died at her home on Wednesday, January 28, 2004.
Sara Myrl Coombs was born December 23, 1919 in Pickardville, ND the daughter of Walter F. and E. LaVonne (Williams) Coombs. She grew up and attended elementary school in Sheridan County, near McClusky, ND. Myrl graduated from Bismarck High School and then went on to college in Greenville, IL and received her teaching degree. On July 2, 1946 she married Jacob Doerr in Bismarck, ND. They moved to Jamestown in January of 1949 and she has made her home here ever since. Mr. Doerr died in 1991.
Myrl was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Jamestown and was involved with various ministries of the church. She also enjoyed traveling internationally for missions and gardening.
Myrl is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard & Pat, Jamestown; David & Brenda, Olathe, KS; Steve & Joanie, Kansas City, MO and Stan & Beth, Chickamauga, GA; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Ethelyn Pepple, Wyoming and two brothers, Sidney (Jean) Coombs, Garden City, KS and Edward (Mary Ann) Coombs, Martin, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob and a sister, Margaret Mickelson.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 31, 2004 at the First Church of the Nazarene, Jamestown with Rev. Richard Reynolds officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, January 30, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
