Myrna Cofell

Myrna Cofell passed away June 7th, 2023, at St. Benedictine Care Center in LaMoure, ND at age 86, surrounded by her loving family.

Myrna Mechling was born February 8, 1937 to Daniel and Margaret Mechling in Idaho Falls, ID, the fifth of eight children. She grew up and attended school in Idaho which is also where she met her husband Doug, who used to say of Myrna "I picked a wildflower off the side of an Idaho mountain." They were married November 28, 1954 in a small log church in Moose, WY; together they lived in many small towns across Colorado, North Dakota, and South Dakota, eventually settling on a farm outside of Edgeley, ND. She moved into Edgeley after her husband passed and spent her final three decades in town.

Myrna was most known for her welcoming nature and her hospitality. Friends and neighbors were always stopping by to enjoy coffee and conversation along with her delicious meals and baked goods. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and Yahtzee, doing ceramics, and spending time with her loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Daniel (Deb), Douglas, David, Wanyce, and Lori, sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Doug, all seven siblings (Keith, Walt, Jim, Glenn, Dennis, Donna, and Phyllis), her son Donald, and her grandchild Taylor.

Funeral Service – 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Edgeley, ND with Travis Voeltz officiating.

Visitation – One hour before the funeral at the church.

Burial – Mt. Hope Cemetery, Edgeley
