Myrna Sarbaum

Myrna Sarbaum, 82, of Jamestown, ND, died Friday, August 2, 2013 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Myrna A. Holden was born on March 18, 1931, in Barnes County, near Eckelson, ND, the daughter of Goeldner and Martha (Corhouse) Holden. She attended rural school in Barnes County, then Ypsilanti High School, and graduated from Sanborn High School in 1949. Myrna then attended two summer sessions at Valley City State Teachers College and earned her teaching certificate to teach rural schools. Myrna first taught in the Madden school in Ypsilanti township, then the Homer school in Homer township, and finally a school in Manns township.

Myrna married the love of her life, Robert Sarbaum, on June 16, 1953 in the St. Frances Catholic Church in Marion, ND. They farmed together in the Montpelier and Marion area for many years. They moved to Jamestown in 1981 and she worked at the Fair Store and the Pantry Café for a few years. Myrna was a talented seamstress and loved to do embroidery, knit, cross-stitching, and crafts.

Myrna belonged to the Ypsilanti Hobby Club until it dissolved, and was the treasurer until just resigning her position of the Montpelier Senior's Club. They also belonged to First Community Credit Union Members Choice Club and Unison Bank Good Neighbor Club, where they enjoyed the many activities of these organizations.

Myrna is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Sarbaum, Jamestown; sister-in-law, Patty Holden, Burlington, WA; and several nieces and nephews in Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lester and Gerald; one niece, Arlene; and step-father, Knolton Parfit.

Funeral Service : 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.
