Myron D. Seitz, 73, of Edgeley, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Oakes Community Hospital.
Myron was born October 2, 1936, in Hazen, ND to Christian and Hedwig (Hildebrand) Seitz. His education began at a country school in rural Hazen and he went on to graduate from Hazen High School in 1955. Myron then attended North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND, receiving his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering in 1960. While at NDSU, he served in the Air National Guard, 178th Fighter Squadron for two years. He was also enrolled in the ROTC program for four years and then commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force at graduation. Myron entered active duty with the Air Force in 1960 and served until 1963.
Myron married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Richter, On December 27, 1957 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hazen.
Myron worked for the Veteran's Administration in the engineering department in Fargo and later went to work as a district manager for the General Services Administration in Kansas City, MO for many years. During which time, he also served with the United States Air Force Reserve for the 119th Air Lift Wing at Richards Gebauer Air Force Base in Kansas City, MO from 1966-1968. In 1986, Myron retired from G.S.A. as a District Manager.
Myron's main interest was flying. He earned a number of ratings including: Instrument Flight Instructor and Multi Engine. Other hobbies were: flying model radio controlled airplanes, ham radio, hunting, fishing and playing a multitude of instruments. He also restored an old 1946 Aeronca Champ that he flew for 12 years.
Myron is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of 52 years, Edgeley; four children, David (Joan) Seitz, Prairie Village, KS, Mark (Margaret) Seitz, Fredericksburg, VA, Michael (Jodie) Seitz, Claremore, OK, Kristin (Keith) Knight, Pleasant Hill, MO; eleven grandchildren, Joshua, Katherine, Anna, Jacob, Emily, William, Caroline, Megan, Taylor, Alexandria and Rachel; two brothers and a sister, Leonhard (Geneva) Seitz, AZ, Edgar (Hazel) Seitz, CO and Luella Banek, Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant grandson, Jonathan Seitz.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND with Rev. Carl Glamm officiating.
Visitation: None planned.
Burial: 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010 at North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
