Myrtle Boomgaarden, 87, Jamestown, North Dakota formerly of Pingree, North Dakota died Monday, August 12, 2002 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown, North Dakota.
Myrtle Margaret Murie was born August 4, 1915 at Langdon, North Dakota the daughter of Andrew and Effie Belle (Smith) Murie. She grew up and attended school near Langdon. Myrtle married Arnold Boomgaarden on January 1, 1938 in rural Langdon. They farmed in the Langdon area until 1954 when they moved to Vashti, ND where they continued farming. They spent a number of winters in Texas. In 1997, they moed to the Gardenette in Jamestown. He died July 24, 1997. She moved to Central Dakota Village in November of 1997. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, reading, and her chickens.
She was a member of Lady Washington Chapter #1 OES of Jamestown, Congregational Ladies Aid, Pingree, ND, local 4-H Leader for many years in Edmunds, ND, Charter Member of the Senior Center in Pingree, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by son, F.G. (George) Boomgaarden of Pingree, ND; daughter, Betty Clark of Moorhead, MN; daughter, Ruby (Charles) Crook of Wittman, AZ; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Della Crockett of Lagdon, ND; brother, A.L. ""Bud"" Murie of Langdon, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Lyle; and an infant brother.
Funeral Service: 11:00AM Thursday, August 15, 2002 at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Visitation: Wednesday, August 14, 2002 from 1:00PM to 9:00PM at the Eddy Funeral home.
Prayer Service: 7:00PM Thursday, August 14, 2002 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, ND.
