Myrtle E. Perleberg, 91, Jamestown, North Dakota died Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown.
Myrtle Batteen was born August 18, 1920 in Barlow, ND, the daughter of Ferdinand ""Fred"" and Mary (Struckness) Batteen. She received her education in Esmond and Buchanan, ND rural schools and in Akeley, MN. On June 22, 1947 Myrtle married Albert Perleberg in Fargo, ND. They lived and farmed northwest of Jamestown until 1956 when they moved to Jamestown, where Myrtle worked at the City Laundry. They moved to Glasgow, MT for a short time and Myrtle worked in a local dry cleaners, then to Kimball, NE, where she worked at a grocery store wrapping meat before returning to Jamestown, where she worked at the National Tea grocery store. They sold their home in 1997 and moved to the Gardenette. Albert passed away on November 19, 1999. Myrtle became a resident of Eventide at Hi-Acres in October 2011.
Myrtle was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown. She enjoyed doing word puzzles, gardening, crocheting and playing bingo.
Myrtle is survived by three children, Florence (Norman) Burkhardt, Jamestown, Richard Perleberg, Jamestown, ND, and Barbara (Ellan) Hinsz, Columbia Falls, MT; daughter-in-law, Je're Mathews, Pensacola, FL; 7 Grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Wayne; two brothers, Lloyd and Harry Batteen; and three sisters, Hazel Lindgren, Cora Rudnick and Ruth Resch.
