Nadine Wilkinson

May 11, 1913 — May 21, 2005

Nadine Edith Chadduck Wilkinson, 92, Buchanan, North Dakota died Saturday, May 21, 2005 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown, ND.

Nadine was born May 11, 1913 in rural Buchanan, North Dakota, to Guy and Marie (Wicks) Chadduck. Her mother died in 1918 and Guy and his sisters, Georgia and Flora, raised the four small children. She attended the little rural school where her mother had taught. She lived in the Buchanan Hotel and attended high school, graduating in 1930. She married Alex Wilkinson and became the stepmother to Harold and Billy. Her daughter Beverly was born in 1933 while they were living in Cincinnati, Ohio. They moved to Buchanan where Norine and Dick were born and managed the Buchanan Bar until 1952 when they sold it to Leonard Christ and moved to Glenfield for a short time, running a café they called ""Alex and Dean's Eat Place."" They returned to Buchanan and Alex became the Stutsman County Veterans Service Officer. Nadine worked for Alex and then began employment at the North Dakota State Hospital in 1957 and retired as the Personnel Director in 1983. One of her proudest achievements was being appointed to the first North Dakota Commission on the Status of Women by Governor William Guy. She belonged to the Jamestown Business and Professional Women Association. She always enjoyed the conventions and the many dress-up themes they were involved in. She was a charter member of the Buchanan V.F.W. Auxiliary to Post #9370 and a member of the Wimbledon American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed reading and doing crosswords. She even gave a grade to herself on the puzzles. She loved to travel and went on several trips with her sisters. Though their children weren't sure the sisters got where they aimed for, they always had a great time. She was very happy that she traveled as often as she did. Each grandchild was so dear to her. For several years on each of their birthday's, she took them shopping and out for a special meal. She had ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren. She was a special Aunt Dean to her nieces and nephews.

Nadine is survived by her daughter, Norine (Dale) Knudson, Pingree and son, Dick (Cathryn) Wilkinson, Bloomington, MN, her brother, Donald Chadduck, Jamestown and sister Bonnie Rude of Butte, MT. Her grandchildren are: Debbie (Emmett) Lampert and Vickie (Dave) Greshik, Wimbledon; Steve (Ann) Bultema, Westerville, Ohio and Cory (Connie) Bultema, Eagan, MN; Karen Knudson and Kathy (Michael) Moore, both of Garland, TX; Erin (Scott) Rogers of Aurora, CO, Shana (Lance) Jensen of Savage, MN and Colleen (Steve) Quade of Bloomington, MN. The great grandchildren are Megan and Abby Greshik; Evan Lampert; Tylen and Kenzie Bultema; Pat, Caitlin and Alex Bultema; Grant and Zachary Moore; Rachel, PJ and Jacob Brown; Emma and Jack Rogers; Thomas Richard and Brady Jensen; and Austin Quade.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alex, one sister, Iris Hopland, her daughter, Beverly and son-in-law, Milton Bultema and her grandson, Kevin Knudson.

Memorial service will be held at the Pingree Lutheran Church at 3:00 PM, on Thursday, May 26, 2005 with private family committal at the Buchanan Cemetery.
