Nellie Johansen

Nellie Johansen, 95, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Nellie Spiering was born August 21, 1912 in Woodworth, North Dakota, the daughter of Gus and Mildred (Hartman) Spiering. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1929. Nellie married Clifford Johansen in Carrington. They moved west of Pingree and farmed there all of their lives.

Nellie enjoyed reading, crocheting, and after their retirement, traveling.

Nellie is survived by daughter, Marilyn (Harold) Srozinski, Jamestown; one son, Robert (Sharon) Johansen, Hawley, MN; daughter-in-law, Carol Johansen, Fargo, ND; five grandchildren, Linda Hill, Cheryl Gardner, Dean Johansen, Lisa McCleary and Robert Johansen, Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Blake Johansen, Eric Johansen, Nicholas Johansen and Olivia Johansen; one sister, Grace Phelps, Tillamond, OR; one sister-in-law, Alice Johansen, Jamestown and two very special friends, Marian Oster and Lillian Neukircher, both of Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Gordon; and five brothers.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Monday, July 14, 2008 at Hi-Acres Manor Memorial Chapel with Chaplain David Fisher officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Sunday, July 13, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Burial: Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, North Dakota
