Nellie Thompson

Nellie Thompson, 93, of Jamestown, ND died Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown.

Nellie Paulsen was born July 10, 1911 in New England, ND the daughter of Jens and Mary (Gammelgard) Paulsen. The family moved to Rock Springs, Montana, then returned to North Dakota in 1918. Nellie married Morris O. Thompson on January 4, 1938 in Finley, ND. They lived in Griggs and Steele counties. Nellie was the postmaster in Sutton, ND for many years. Morris died December 28, 1988. She moved to Jamestown in 1994 and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Nellie enjoyed reading, knitting, word puzzles and, most of all, gathering with family and friends.

She is survived by son, Kenneth (Linda) Thompson of Lombard, IL; son, Arlan (Marcia) Thompson of Owatonna, MN; daughter, Ruth Wilkie of Jamestown, ND; and daughter-in-law, Helen Thompson of Oakland, CA; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Paulsen of Finley, ND and Elgar (Ernestine) Paulsen of Hannaford, ND; two sisters, Nina (Joe) Stair of Minot, ND and Eleanor (Harvey) Starbuck of Aiken, SC.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Morris D. Thompson; grandson, Robin Wilkie; and 7 brothers and sisters.

Funeral Service: 10:30AM Monday, July 26, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Terry Anderson officiating.

Visitation: Sunday, July 25, 2004 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Burial: Eidfjord Cemetery, rural Sutton, ND.
