Nina Lillian Voigt

Nina Lillian Josephson Voigt , 83 died Monday, May 07, 2007 at the Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home in Long Prairie Minnesota where she had been a resident since October 31, 2006.

Mrs. Voigt was born October 18, 1923 in Wing, North Dakota, the daughter of Charles E. and Wendla G. (Hemmi) Josephson.

She was raised on a farm in Burleigh County near Wing and attended elementary school in Wing. After graduating from Bismarck Senior High School in 1941, she was employed by the Bismarck Tribune as a proof reader.

Nina married Theodore ?Ted? Voigt on Dec 13, 1951 in Bismarck, ND. Mr. Voigt was assigned to the Navy Recruiting Station in Bismarck. Nina stood side by side with her husband during the rest of his Navy career which ended in April 1961. Nina moved with the family to Jamestown ND in 1962 and lived there until moving to Long Prairie in October 2006. During the Navy time and afterwards, Nina always enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and overseas.

Besides traveling and entertaining, Mom enjoyed playing cards, fishing crappies at Cozy Cove in Dent, MN, watching the Minnesota Twins and the ND state ?B? High School boys? basketball championships. Nina was a wonderful Grandmother and was always happy to see her Grandchildren.

Nina is survived by her two sons: Kenneth (Joan) Voigt, Alexandria MN, Douglas Voigt, Watford City ND; four grandchildren Nichole (Voigt) Todd, White Bear Lake, MN, Matthew Voigt, Brookings SD, Jenifer and Zachary Voigt, and one brother, Donald Josephson, Billings MT.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; four brothers Earl, Arnold, Raymond and William and three sisters, Helen Juhala, Hilma Harju, and Mildred Rova.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND May 12th at 2:00 p.m. with internment at the ND Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND.
