Noel Mccoy

Noel Elwood McCoy, 67, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at his home in Jamestown.

Noel was born December 25, 1941 in Jamestown, ND, the son of Rev. N.E. and Lillian (Melom) McCoy. He grew up in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1959. In 1961 Noel graduated from the North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton in Auto Mechanics. On June 17, 1962 Noel married Carol Grosz in Kulm, ND. He worked in various mechanic shops, Western Auto, JB Shortway Bus Service as a charter driver; Dakota Farmers Insurance; and Empire Supply, Inc., which later became GTC Auto Parts. In 1978 Noel purchased GTC Auto Parts,which later became CarQuest Auto. He later purchased CarQuest Auto Parts in Edgeley. Due to health reasons, Noel went on disability the summer of 2000.

Noel enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities and taking them to their various events. His hobbies included classic cars; model railroading; fishing trips, camping; and having coffee with his buddies.

Noel was a member of the Road Knights, Jaycees, Jamestown Elks and Lions, Jamestown Classic Car Club, ND Street Rod Assn., Sky Warn, HAM Radio Club, St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the St. Paul's Quartet.

Noel is survived by his wife, Carol; two children, Neal (Colleen) McCoy and Carmen (Allen, Jr.) Bender; four grandchildren, Nicholas & Erica McCoy and Caitlyn & Joshua Bender, all of Jamestown; one sister, Arva Dell Tahran; mother-in-law, Rosie Grosz, both of Jamestown; and nieces and nephews, Renee & Rich Sky, Jamestown, Randa & John Helmberger, St. Paul, MN; Ramona & Paul Kolanek, Milford, MI and Bryce & Karen Tahran, Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother-in-law, Elmo Tahran; father-in-law, Martin Grosz; and one nephew, Brent Tahran.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 14, 2009 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Gary Ball-Kilbourne and Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating.

Visitation: 12:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Jamestown Hospital Hospice or McCoy Ministries.
