Norbert Schulz

Norbert Schulz, 83, of Jamestown, ND, died Saturday, August 13, 2011 at his home in Jamestown.

Norbert Schulz was born September 29, 1927, in Woodworth, ND, the son of Albert and Wanda (Goter) Schulz. He attended Lowry Township School, near Woodworth and worked on the family farm from 1942 until 1950. Norbert enlisted with the US Army on November 20, 1950 and was stationed in Iwo Jima, Japan and Korea. He was discharged on November 11, 1952 after serving his country. Norbert married LeRae Smith on June 18, 1954 and they bought a farm in the Pingree, ND area. They farmed for many years and Norbert retired in 1974, later moving to Jamestown. He established a water well business which he operated until his death.

He was a life member of the Woodworth American Legion and the Pingree Lutheran Church, and later, Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown.

Norbert will be remembered for his ability to witch for water and predict the weather forecasts by studying pig spleens. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Norbert is survived by his wife, LeRae, Jamestown; two sons, Steven (Ann), Pingree and Mark, Jamestown; one daughter, Lynda Schulz, Jamestown; one granddaughter, Deidra Lange, Illinois; three brothers, Randy, Leno (Vera) and Walter (Frances); and four sisters, Lois Mutschler, Selma Martinson, Evelyn Kutz and Eleanor Langhoff.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alvin; a sister Eunice; and one grandson, Jeffrey Alan Lange.

Funeral Service : 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Scott W. Block officiating.

Visitation : 1:00 p.m., to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2011 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
