Norma Borchardt

Norma Borchardt, 85, of Gackle, ND, died Sunday, November 7, 2010 at The Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND.

Norma Borchardt was born October 3, 1925, near Kief, ND, the daughter of Henry and Louise (Mueller) Borchardt. She was the third born of two boys and three girls. Norma grew up on a farm in Lincoln Valley, ND, in a strict, yet happy home. She graduated from the 8th grade at a country school near Kief, ND, and from Drake High School in Drake, ND. Norma attended Minot State College, Minot, ND, and was affiliated with the Trinity Hospital in Minot. She graduated from nurses training in 1945. Norma worked as an RN in Bismarck, ND and as a private duty nurse in Minnesota and Texas. She lived in Jamestown, ND before becoming a resident of the Gackle Care Center, Gackle, ND in 2001. Due to health reasons, she moved to the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND in August 2010.

Norma was of the German descent and of the Baptist faith. She faithfully read the Bible and Christian literature. Norma was an avid reader and letter writer. She had an appreciation for flowers.

Norma is survived by one brother, Glenn, Billings, MT; two sisters, Evangeline Olson, New Salem, ND and Gloria (Ernest) Ensz, Burleson, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Orville; two nephews; one brother-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Gackle Care Center, Gackle, ND, with Chaplain Kathleen Heller officiating.

Prayer Service: Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the North Dakota State Hospital.

Graveside Service: 2:30 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2010 at the McClusky Cemetery, McClusky, ND.
