Norma Carlson

March 31, 1940 — July 30, 2016

Norma Carlson, 76, of Cleveland, ND, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Jamestown. Norma was born to Henry and Anna Rau near Lincoln Valley, ND. She worked as a nanny in Minot a short time, then attended Christian Beauty College in Bismarck. She worked at Reisnour Beauty Salon in Jamestown for 10 years.

In 1971, she and J Carlson were married at the Lincoln Valley Country Church. They lived and farmed in the Cleveland, ND area since then.

Norma was active on church committees; she was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent for many years. She was one of three people who started the post-prom party at the Medina-Cleveland school.

Norma had many hobbies, such as gardening, reading, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She was a self-taught pianist and played for her own enjoyment. Norma wrote short poetry pieces, a few have been published.

Norma is survived by her husband, J; son, John (Annie) Carlson of Mercer; four grandchildren: Jae Reutter; Jana, Henry, and Eleanor Carlson; two sisters, Freida Rau and Alma Rau of Harvey; a sister-in-law, Edith Rau of Bismarck; brothers-in-law, Nelson Carlson of Jamestown and Lenus Carlson of Berlin, Germany; son-in-law, Larry Reutter; and four step-granddaughters, Destiny Vetter, Hannah, Sienna, and Maci Reutter; her niece, Leslie Carlson; and her nephew Sam Carlson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Ann Reutter; her sisters, Elsie Rau and Gertie Rau; her brother Gary; and her brother-in-law Kern Carlson.

In lieu of flowers, Norma asked that memorials be made to a charity of your choice.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Jamestown, ND with Rev. Darrell Losing officiating.
