Norman Burkhardt

Norman W. Burkhardt, 92, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Monday evening, May 6, 2024 at SMP Health – Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.

Norman W. Burkhardt was born May 4, 1932, in Goldwin, ND, the son of Fred and Dorothy (Schelske) Burkhardt.  He attended school in Woodworth, ND.  Norman worked various jobs including farming, trucking for Earl Letcher, Haybusters, and retired from Western Gear in 1994.

Norman entered the US Navy on January 13, 1952 and was honorably discharged on December 13, 1954.  He enjoyed electronics, hunting, fishing, gardening, had a passion for roses, and a love for music.

He married Darlene Schwalk in 1965, they divorced in 1969.  They were blessed with a daughter, Heather.  He married Florence Mathews-Fisher in 2005.

Norman is survived by his wife, Florence; daughter, Heather (Cory); sister, Lila Daly; four step-children, Debra Bischoff, Gregory Fisher, Jerry Fisher, and Bruce Fisher.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leslie Burkhardt; sisters, Elaine Heinitz and Adeline Bartlett; sister-in-law, Mabel Burkhardt; brothers-in-law, Merle Bartlett, Don Heinitz, and John Daly; and nephews, Tim and Pat Daly.

Memorial Service – 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2024 at Eddy Funeral Home, with Pastor Stephanie Gossett officiating.

Burial – Fargo National Cemetery.
