Nyra Hofmann

Nyra Hofmann, 76, Medina, North Dakota, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Nyra Jean Johnson was born November 14, 1933 at Pettibone, ND, the daughter of Harry and Thilda (Warberg) Johnson. She attended Pettibone Public School and graduated from Valley City State College in 1953. On October 4, 1953 Nyra married Wilbert Hofmann in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pettibone. They moved to a farm northwest of Medina. Nyra taught school at Lake Williams, ND, Woodworth, ND and kindergarten at Medina.

Nyra was a member of the English Lutheran Church, Medina, where she was the organist and choir accompanist, which she especially enjoyed. She was also on the Stutsman County Library Board, a Director of Senior Citizens, a member of WELCA, Homemakers and the church quilting group. She loved plants, gardening and reading.

Nyra is survived by her husband, Wilbert, Medina; one son, Dwight (Janine) Hofmann, Medina; four grandchildren, Trichelle (Kent) Kirchenwitz, Fargo, ND, Elicia (Travis) Bean, Lincoln, ND, Jacob Hofmann and Phillip Hofmann, both of Medina; one sister, June (Leonhard) Morlock, Jamestown; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Harriet Lorraine; and one brother, Gary Warren.
