Olive M. Geier

Olive M. Geier, 96, Wimbledon, North Dakota died Monday, September 13, 2004 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Olive May Newcomb was born April 30, 1908 in Sumpter Township, McLeod County, Minnesota the daughter of Roy and Alice May Newcomb. She graduated from Brownton High School in Brownton, MN. She married Helmuth C. Geier on November 7, 1929 in McLeod County, MN. They lived in Millarton, ND from 1929 until 1950. There Ollie worked in the U.S. Post Office.

In 1950 they moved to Wimbledon, ND where she worked for Clarence Hamann at Hamann's Grocery and later for Jack Schlecht at Jack's Red Owl. She retired in 1977. Helmuth died May 29, 1970.

Ollie was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wimbledon, the LaBrash-Altringer Legion Auxiliary and the Wimbledon Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, telling jokes, rummage sales and visiting with all her friends. She especially enjoyed attending the Senior Citizens. She was proud to be the oldest citizen of Wimbledon for many years.

Ollie is survived by a sister-in-law, Esther Newcomb, Hector, MN, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a special friend, LeRoy Peterson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Leonard and Dick and four sisters, Florence, Ruth, Gladys and Blanche, and two siblings in infancy.

Funeral Service: 1:30 PM, Thursday, September 16, 2004 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wimbledon, ND with Pastors Bob Leiste & Anthony Ahrandt officiating.

Visitation: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Prairie View Cemetery, Wimbledon, North Dakota.
