Opal E. Lawrence, 89, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.
Opal Evelyn Hooge was born February 21, 1921 at Gwinner, ND, the daughter of Clarence and Ida (Anderson) Hooge. She graduated from Wahpeton High School in May 1939. She was employed at Rose Meade Pottery until her marriage to Dana W. Lawrence on October 4, 1941 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton. They made their home in Jamestown.
Opal enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked to do crossword puzzles and go camping.
She was a member of Good Sams Club; Homemakers; and First United Methodist Church.
Opal is survived by two sons, Jim (Deb) Lawrence, Charlotte, NC and Ray (Jody) Lawrence, Jamestown; one daughter, Betty (Jack) Salzsieder, Urbandale, IA; daughter-in-law, Tena Lawrence, Jamestown; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lowell (Bernice) Hooge, Council Bluffs, IA; brother-in-law, Al Lawrence, Jamestown and sister-in-law, Elsie Lawrence, Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Lyle; parents; and one brother, LaVerne.
