Orlen Bjorland

Orlen Bjorland, 83, Jamestown, ND, died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND .

Orlen Thomas Bjorland was born June 4, 1930 on the family farm near Weaver, ND, the son of Peter and Clara (Thorson) Bjorland. He was raised in Bagley, MN and attended the rural school near Hampton, ND and later the rural school near Bagley, MN. Following his schooling, he moved to Fargo, ND, where he worked as a truck driver for Northrup-King for 2 years and for Northern Transit as a Fargo City Bus Driver for 5 years. On April 19, 1950, he married Shirley Peerboom at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Anamoose, ND, and they settled in Fargo, ND where Orlen began working as a truck driver for Hart Motor Express, a job he continued for 30 years. In 1952, they moved to Dilworth, MN and in 1973, moved to Jamestown, ND. Orlen also drove tour bus for 10 years. In 1992, they moved to Edgeley, ND and Orlen worked as a driver for LaMoure County Transit and for Lisko Funeral Chapel.

Orlen was a member of St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND, the Eagles, and a lifetime member of Local 116 Teamsters Union.

Survivors include his six children: Ronald (Barb) Bjorland, Sabin, MN; Marilyn Bjorland, Van Nuys, CA; Richard (Cheryl) Bjorland, Anamoose, ND; Sandra (Dave) Farthing, Jamestown, ND; Russell (Diane) Bjorland, Jamestown, ND; Robert (Julie) Bjorland, Harvey, ND; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nephew, Allan Halvorson; and nieces, Myrna Lillistone and Janet Hanson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; and a sister, Violet Halvorson.

Eucharist of Christian Burial - 2:30 p.m., Thursday, July 11, 2013 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND

Family will received guests - 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July, 10, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment - Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown.
