Oscar Kreil

Oscar Kreil, 86, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Oscar was born November 19, 1923 in Gackle, ND, the son of Reinhold and Christena (Ruff) Kreil. He attended various country schools in the Gackle area. On June 24, 1943 Oscar entered the US Army and served in Normandy, northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was honorably discharged on December 10, 1945. On November 1, 1946 Oscar married Virginia Orr in Valley City. Oscar worked as a security guard at the North Dakota State Hospital. Virginia died July 29, 1990.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown.

Oscar is survived by three sisters, Lorraine (Alan) Vanderberg, Alice Vipperman and Viona Orr, all of Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one sister, Alvina Fietzek; and six brothers, Alvin, Alden, Alroy, Reuben, Jack and Wilbert.
