Paul Goter, 93, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.
Mr. Goter was born October 27, 1910 in Lowery Township, Stutsman County, North Dakota the son of Daniel and Pauline (Kastner) Goter. He grew up and attended school in Lowery Township. He married Helen Schultz on September 24, 1935 when they began their life together on a farm four miles north of Woodworth. The family was active in St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
In 1963 they sold the farm and moved into Jamestown and a short time later moved to a farmstead four miles southeast of Jamestown. During these years Paul's many talents were used, including building a new home. They were active members of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church and later at St. John's Lutheran Church in Jamestown. Paul also began working for the Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center where he remained through the 1970's. He worked on projects involved in the raising of all waterfowl including a restoration program of the Giant Canadian Goose. He experiened much joy and satisfaction in this work.
Paul is survived by his wife, Helen of Jamestown, one son, Stanley (Ila Jeanne) Goter, Payallup, WA and one daughter, Gloria Ottem, Fargo, ND, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, three brothers and five sisters.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, February 27, 2004 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Doug Opp officiating.
Visitation: 2:00 to 9:00 PM, Thursday, February 26, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
