Paul Krapp, 82, Buchanan, ND, died Friday, March 24, 2006 at Medcenter One Hospital, Bismarck, ND.
Paul Francis Krapp Jr. was born August 9, 1923 in Jamestown, ND the son of Paul Sr. and Emma (Sandt) Krapp, after his mother was driven to Jamestown Hospital in the sidecar of the hired man's motorcycle. He was raised and attended school in Round Top Township near Pingree, ND. After his schooling, he continued to live on the family farm until 1948. From 1948 to 1949, he lived at "the nest", just north of the home place, also known as Patty Butler's place. On July 9, 1950, he married Verna May Tompkins in Jamestown, ND, and they farmed near Buchanan, ND where they raised small grains and livestock. Paul and Verna May raised 6 children.
Paul was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Buchanan, ND. He was a Fire Director for Hidden Township and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1883 of Jamestown, ND. He built the cross overlooking the Buchanan Cemetery.
Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, and fox hunting out of an airplane with his father-in-law and brother-in-law. His life was farming and he enjoyed it every day.
Survivors include 2 sons: Gary Krapp, Buchanan, ND; Rick (Colleen) Krapp, Jamestown, ND; 3 daughters: Peggy (James) Jung, Valley City, ND; Connie (Larry) Kassian, Bismarck, ND; Pam (Matthew) Sortland, Cedar Rapids, IA; 5 grandsons: Andy Jung, Greenbelt, MD; Alex and Joseph Kassian, Bismarck, ND; Brandon and Mitchell Sortland, Cedar Rapids, IA; 2 granddaughters: Carrie (Mike) Scheuer, Byron, MN; Laura Kassian, Bismarck, ND; 2 step-granddaughters: Candice and Ashley Miller, Grand Forks, ND; 3 great-grandchildren: Megan, Drew and Luke Scheuer; 1 sister, Leona Boileau, Minneapolis, MN and his beloved dogs, Wilson and Maggie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, Tommy, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral - 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2006 at The Basilica Of St James, Jamestown, ND
Rosary - 5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND
Prayer Service - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND
Visitation - 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Monday
Interment - Buchanan Cemetery, Buchanan, ND
