Paul Rode, 83, Adrian, ND, died Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at his home in Adrian, the same home in which he was born.
Paul Herman Rode was born July 19, 1924 on the family homestead in Adrian, ND, the son of Herman and Esther (Nelson) Rode. He was raised in Adrian, ND and attended the Adrian schools, graduating from Adrian High School in 1942. On September 10, 1950, he married Doris Lee and they settled on the Rode homestead where they farmed. Paul also worked for Adrian Elevator, as a County Committeeman at the LaMoure County ASC Office, drove school bus for the Adrian/Dickey/Montpelier Schools and was currently the assessor for Adrian Township.
Paul served on the board of the Adrian Church and the Montpelier School Board. For over 50 years, he played in numerous country western bands including the Long Branch Boys.
He loved music, outdoors activities, red tractors, Hereford cows and Chevrolets.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Doris, Adrian, ND; 7 children: Paulette (Nathan) Pekarski, Dickey, ND; Loren (Patricia) Rode, Adrian, ND; Gretchen (Jerome) Barnick, Jamestown, ND; Lori (Bruce) Dally, Montpelier, ND; Dawn (Ike) Carpenter, Bismarck, ND; Curtis (Harmony) Rode, LaMoure, ND; Neal (Katrina) Rode, Devils Lake, ND; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elaine (George) Heinrich, Adrian, ND and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerhard and 2 sons, Mark and Allan.
Funeral - 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Adrian Lutheran Church, Adrian, ND with Reverend Thomas Puffe officiating.
Prayer Service - 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2007 at Adrian Lutheran Church, Adrian, ND
Visitation - 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2007 at 1 hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Interment - Adrian Cemetery, Adrian, ND
