Paul H. Senne, Sr., 90, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, January 7, 2007 at his home.
Mr. Senne was born December 24, 1916 in Hebron, North Dakota the son of Fred and Louise (Mayer) Senne. He grew up and attended school in Hebron. On July 28, 1941 he married Pauline Steckler from Glen Ullin, ND.
He entered the US Army during World War II in June 1944 and served in the 87th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron in Europe and was honorably discharged in 1946. Upon returning to Glen Ullin they owned and operated the Gateway Club. In 1956 they moved to Hazelton and he managed the Farmers Union Oil Co. until 1961. It was then that the family moved to Jamestown and he worked for Hedahl's Auto Parts until his retirement. Pauline died December 13, 2002.
He was a past Jamestown American Legion post commander, a member of the Color Guard and the Drum and Bugle Corps. He enjoyed going to the Sr. Citizen's Center and volunteering there, playing Pinocle with his many friends, fishing at Spiritwood Lake, bowling, woodworking and feeding the birds and squirrels. He was also a regular at the Jamestown Hospital Cardiac Wellness Center.
Most of all, he enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and feeding the birds and squirrels.
Paul is survived by his five sons: Dennis, Fargo, ND; Russell (Linda), Bismarck, ND; Paul, Jr. (Karen), Jamestown; Jim, Bismarck and Gerard (Sharon), Bismarck; two daughters, Paulette (Ric) Ukestad, Dickinson, ND and Patty (Rick) McKenzie, Bismarck; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two sisters, Glendora Feil, Mandan, ND and Genevieve Link, Butte, MT.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; four brothers, Ernie, Alfred, Armen and Hugo; and a daughter-in-law, Colleen (Reardon) Senne.
Memorial Service: 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at the Basilica of St. James with Father John McGinnis officiating.
No visitation is scheduled.
Burial: 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at the ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, North Dakota.
