Pauline Deutscher, 101, Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND, formally from Medina, ND, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 22, 2011.
Pauline Ross was born April 25, 1909 in Friedenstahl, South Russia, to the parents of Gottlieb and Elizabeth (Jochim) Ross. Before one year of age she came to America with her parents to Faith, SD, where they farmed for three years, later moving to Eureka, SD, and then to farms near Medina, ND. Pauline was eldest of ten children. She applied together with her mother for U.S.A. citizenship.
Pauline married Gust F. Deutscher on Nov. 15, 1928. In 1940 they acquired a farm south of Medina, and farmed together raising small grains, dairy and beef livestock, and poultry. Pauline had a side business for 11 years marketing farm fresh cream, eggs and her homemade cottage cheese. In 1980, she and her husband retired from farming moving into Medina, ND. They were married 77 years when Gust passed away Dec. 2, 2004.
Pauline enjoyed her flower beds, garden work, canning, dairy cows, chickens, sewing, crocheting, pet bird Tweetie, and the Women’s Fellowship and Quilters activities at the Zion United Church of Christ, the church she attended for over 65 years. She dearly loved and appreciated her family, neighbors, friends, and health care doctor, nurses and helpers.
Pauline is survived by one son, David (Linda) Deutscher, and one granddaughter, Dede, Medina, ND; three sisters, Hildegard Brost, Crookston, MN, Emma Bogus, Seattle, WA, and Florence Eissinger, White Bear Lake, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Paul and Drougott; sisters, Alma Cook, Ruth Trautman, and also two sisters in infancy.
