Peter Carl Flitton, 27, Virginia Beach, Virginia, formerly of Jamestown, North Dakota, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006 in Virginia Beach, VA after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer.
Peter was born September 7, 1978 in Jamestown, the son of Pastor Herbert and Joan (Strutz) Flitton III. He grew up in Steele and Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1997 where he was active in band, track and cross country. He attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, majoring in Bible and communications. He was involved in two mission trips that took him to Honduras and one mission trip to Mongolia. He also spent a summer in Israel and the Middle East in a Wheaton College study program. Peter married Bethany Greydanus on June 7, 2003 in Grand Haven, Michigan.
He enjoyed camping, games and Star Wars movies, trivia, and memorabilia. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Norfolk, VA.
Peter is survived by his wife, Bethany of Virginia Beach, VA; his parents, Pastor Herbert and Joan Flitton, Jamestown, ND; three sisters and two brothers: Kjirsten (Dave) Boeve, Traverse City, Michigan, Christopher, Heidi, Jennifer and Timothy Flitton, all of Jamestown; his grandmothers, Ruth Strutz, Jamestown and Marie Flitton, Norfolk, VA and two nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Carl Strutz and Rev. Herbert Flitton, Jr.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 8, 2006 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown with Pastor Norman Winkelman officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
