Philip DeKrey, 73, of Bismarck, North Dakota died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.

Philip DeKrey, the son of Arthur and Louise (Filarski) DeKrey, was born September 18, 1931 on a farm near Pettibone, ND. He grew up in rural Pettibone, graduated from Pettibone High School and the ND State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. On November 16, 1954 he married Marla DeKrey. They lived, farmed, raised their family and retired on the family farm south of Pettibone. They moved to Bismarck in 1998. Marla passed away February 20, 2000. Philip married Janice Couvier February 14, 2004 in Bismarck, where they made their home.

Philip was a member of the Malcolm United Church of Christ, near Pettibone, and was currently attending the United Methodist Church in Bismarck. He was a 4-H leader for many years and served on the Kidder County Farm Service board, Weiser Township board, Pettibone school board and various church boards.

Philip is survived by his wife, Janice C. DeKrey of Bismarck; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Lynn (Carol) DeKrey, Winter Springs, FL, Dale (Silvia) DeKrey, Fargo, ND and Paul (Lisa) DeKrey, Alexandria, MN; a step-son, Jason (Lynne) Couvier, Allen, Texas; a step-daughter, Jocelyn (Chuck) McDonald, St. Paul, MN; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and two sisters, Ruth Pasca of Los Altos, CA and Ethel Vander Wal of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Marla, one sister, Muriel DeKrey and one brother, Arthur DeKrey.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, March 21, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kermit Culver officiating.

Visitation: 9:30 to 10:30 AM, Monday, March 21, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.

The family suggest memorials to a Hospice organization of the donor's choice.
