Phillip D. Liebold, 83, of Valley City, ND, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City, ND.
Phillip Dean Liebold was born March 19, 1928 at Dickey, ND, the son of Felix and Daisy (Whipple) Liebold. He grew up on a farm near Dickey and attended Saratoga #1 rural school near Dickey and then graduated from Dickey High School in 1945. Phillip worked for area farmers and for the Occident Elevator in Dickey. He married Helen Good on September 2, 1950 in LaMoure, ND. Phillip entered the US Army and served in Japan during the Korean conflict as a radio operator and repairman. Following his discharge in 1953, Phillip was employed in highway construction, TV repair, oil fields and managed service stations in Minneapolis, MN, Atlanta, GA, and Rochester, MN. He was also a supervisor for a cleaning service in Minneapolis, MN and later worked in maintenance at Hardees in Valley City. Phillip retired in 1982. In 2003 Phil began attending Calvary Baptist Church in Valley City, ND. Soon after, Phil found the Lord Jesus Christ as his own Savior on Dec. 5, 2003. Phil enjoyed helping with VBS, listening to Heaven 88.7 FM, and could be seen driving his electrical wheel chair out to church for services.
Phillip is survived by his four sons, Dwight, Oswego, Il, Harvey, LaMoure, ND, David, Bottineau, ND, and James, Lemoore, California; one daughter, Joyce Sharif, Golden, CO; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m, Friday, June 10, 2011 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Visitation: One hour before the service at the funeral chapel.
Burial: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
