Phyllis Orlean Flanders Laber, 88, Jamestown, ND died Friday, March 25, 2016 at Ave Maria Village Nursing Home surrounded by family.
Phyllis Flanders was born in Chasely, ND to Henry and Fern (Hart) Flanders on January 23, 1928. She attended a country school and then graduated from Pettibone High School in 1946. Phyllis went to Valley City Teachers College for two summers and earned her degree in teaching. Phyllis taught at three country schools before being united in marriage with Alfred Laber on June 7, 1949, in Lake Williams, ND. She was secretary for Bilodeau Township and taught CCD for many years. She was also a 4H leader for many years. Phyllis enjoyed gardening, fishing, crocheting, knitting and spending time with her family.
Phyllis is survived by three sons; Greg (Linda) Laber, Souris, ND, Kirk (Cheryl) Laber, Minot, ND, Kent Laber, Jamestown, ND; three daughters, Cheryl (Robert) Childress, Andover, KS, Janeane (Bryan) Otto, Buchanan, ND, Lynnette Laber, Jamestown, ND; 26 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Jeff and Gary Laber, grandson Justin Laber, sister Elaine Blinsky, great-grandsons, Dakota Nevin and Christian Laber.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful care and support of Hospice and Ave Maria in Phyllis's final days.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 29 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Syskeston, ND.
Visitation: 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday, March 28 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Vigil Service: 7:00 PM, Monday, March 28 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
Burial: St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
